Zuneid Yousuf is the group chairman and a director.
As chairman, Zuneid is devoted to the transformation of the family’s businesses into a diverse multinational company, while upholding the Yousuf family’s core values. MBI Group is a family business, firmly rooted in Zambia.
Zuneid started his business career in the textiles industry, honing his entrepreneurial skills through the import and export of clothes from a base in the United Kingdom. After the family returned to Zambia in the mid-1990s, Zuneid spearheaded the diversification into fast-moving consumer goods, fertilizer, mining and fuels.
Zuneid is passionate about business development in Africa, especially the role that African businesses can play in delivering sustained economic growth and improving food security for millions across the continent. Zuneid has worked extensively with academics and independent specialists around the world to develop new approaches to tackle the challenges the world faces in producing food for an ever-growing population.
Ibrahim Yousuf | Director
Ibrahim Yousuf has executive responsibility for the operations of Tangy Drinks, the third largest soft drink producer in Zambia behind Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co.
The company was founded in 1996 after Ibrahim was inspired by his father to start the venture. Production began in the backyard of the family home in Lusaka, with drinks being bottled and packed by hand. The business has grown dramatically since inception, and now operates in Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, and Angola, employing over 2,000 people.
Ibrahim is spearheading MBI Group’s expansion into the extractive industries, thanks to his extensive knowledge of the mining sector. The business is rapidly developing its exploration capacity, with a specific focus on copper, gold, cobalt, and other precious metal mining in Zambia.
Imran Yousuf | Director
Imran Yousuf leads MBI Group’s petroleum supply company. Under Imran’s leadership, Delta Energy has successfully supplied diesel and petrol since 2016.
The company entered the market at a time of national crisis, building on the family’s unique experience and expertise in logistics and supply chain management. Delta’s operational efficiency has ensured a continuous flow of fuel sustaining the needs of the Zambian people and its economy, while maintaining beneficial credit terms for the government of Zambia.
Imran’s other passions include safaris and conservation, promoting sustainable and responsible tourism in Zambia through MBI Group’s ownership of two exclusive lodges that specialise in the wildlife sector.
